What is the "Clipping" feature on Insights Capture?
Not every moment of your gameplay is worth saving, we here at Insights completely understand that. Sometimes you don't want to watch that 40-second respawn timer click down, or you only had one good play in a 30-minute match; whichever way it is, we've added a clipping feature to Insights Capture to cut down your footage to just the moments you want to save. Keep reading to see how to use the feature.
Using Insights Capture's Clipping feature
To get started clipping, all you have to do is open a video on Insights Capture, and click on the "scissor" icon in the panel on the right! That'll open up the clipping panel, and from there you can click on the blue "Start Clipping" icon to start the process- Of course, you can always click the "Clip" button at the bottom of the video as well!
Once you start clipping, you should be presented with a screen like so:
The yellow bar on the main video timeline (located right below the video itself) represents the current clip; You can move the clipping box around with your mouse to change what footage is clipped out of the main video. You can also change the size of the box to change the duration of the clips, by dragging the borders of the box left and right.
If you were only looking to grab one moment from your game, all you need to do is drag the yellow bar to the portion of the video you'd like to clip, adjust the start and end of the clip to your liking, and hit the big "Save" button located in the bottom right corner of the clipping tab.
However, Insights Capture offers the ability to create multiple clips from the same video at once, as well as combine those clips into one new video! You can add clips to the current clipping session by clicking the "Add Clip" button located on the bottom left of the clipping tab. Upon doing so you'll see a new clip pop up in the clipping panel like so:
To swap between your different clips, simply click on the clip in the right panel. As you see in the screenshot above you can also re-name the clips, re-order and even adjust the start and end timestamps by their seconds!
Just like the yellow clipping bar on the main timeline, the yellow clipping bars on the clips located in the clipping tab can be moved/re-sized to change the location of the clip; however, unlike the main timeline's clipping bar, you can actually zoom in on the timeline with your scroll wheel!
Once you're done sorting out what clips you want, you can hit the "Save" button to save them to disk! You'll first be presented with the following dialog, to prevent you from losing your progress if you were to accidentally hit save, and give you the option to combine your separate clips into one video.
Once you save the clip, you'll be presented with a success screen like so:
If you don't, check out the Clipping Troubleshooting page! It'll contain the most common issues people face when using the clipping feature-
The clips can also be seen in your main video library, once saved:
