Apex Legends is an ever-evolving Battle Royale-styled FPS game that continuously lives up to the hype it rightfully brought along once first released back in early 2019. The incredible graphics and unique action-packed gameplay make this game a treat for all the senses, and before you know it, you’ll be eager to learn how to record Apex Legends matches.

It’s a free-to-play game with monetization focusing on the player’s character customization options. The upgrades are purely cosmetic, so the money spent in-game won’t affect the delicately balanced gameplay but purely your unique style. The 24 playable characters, AKA Legends, are split into 5 classes, each having specific perks to suit everyone’s preferred playstyle, and there are currently up to 8 game modes available.

How to record Apex Legends with Insights Capture?

Nowadays, with a variety of easy-to-use third-party software available, Apex Legends recording is a simple task. Whether you want to watch your own replays to learn from mistakes and improve or showcase some epic moments to a targeted audience, all you need to do is follow a couple of simple steps.

Step 1

First and foremost, download and install Insights Capture. Follow the instructions and customize the recording settings according to your PC specs. Since not everyone has a beastly rig, this software provides options for every setup. Even if your computer is old, you can still make awesome videos. Choose the video library folder to store your recordings in and set the storage limit. You can always change the initial choices in the Settings menu, explore additional customization options, and change the default keybindings if required.

Step 2

Start the game while the Insights Capture is running in the background. You’ll notice the overlay in the top right while playing Apex Legends that indicates that game recording is active if you’ve left the auto record enabled while performing your initial setup.

Step 3

There are three ways of capturing gameplay footage with this easy-to-use recording software.

  • Automatic recording feature — the recording starts automatically when the match begins, and ends once it’s finished.
  • Pressing the hotkey to start/stop recording (F7 default hotkey).
  • Instant Replay (F6 default hotkey) — capture the previous X seconds of gameplay. You can enable this feature in the Settings menu and also adjust the duration of the instant replay clip (15 seconds to 10 minutes span). You made an insane play nobody would believe if you told them about it? Hit that hotkey and back it up with evidence!

Step 4

You’re recording! The in-game overlay in the top right corner of your screen will signal that the recording has started. You can always start or stop the recording using hotkeys.

Step 5

Once the recording is made, you can watch it on Insights Capture (Alt+H to open Insights Capture). Your kills, knock downs, and deaths will be timestamped on the video player for your convenience and you can edit your videos to make awesome clips!
