How to record CS: GO with Insights Capture?
Anyone can make awesome CS: GO clips nowadays, especially with a variety of easy-to-use third-party recording software available. Using Insights Capture for this purpose is quite easy, and it only uses a fraction of your CPU, so the game can run smoothly while the screen recorder is active in the background. Whether you want to watch your own replays to learn from mistakes or share some epic moments with a targeted audience, all you need to do is follow a couple of simple steps.
Step 1
First and foremost, download and install Insights Capture. Follow the instructions and customize the recording settings according to your PC specs. Then, decide where the videos will be saved and set the storage limit. You can revise your initial selections within the Settings menu, delve into additional customization possibilities, and modify the default keybindings to suit your preferences whenever you wish.
Step 2
Launch the game while the Insights Capture is running in the background. You’ll notice the overlay in the top right while playing Counter-Strike that indicates that game recording is active if you’ve left the auto record enabled while performing your initial setup.
Step 3
This user-friendly recording software offers three methods for capturing gameplay footage.
- Automatic detection feature — the recording starts automatically when the match begins, and ends once it’s finished
- Pressing the hotkey to start/stop recording (F7 default hotkey)
- Instant Replay (F6 default hotkey) — capture the previous X seconds of gameplay. You can enable this feature in the Settings menu and also adjust the duration of the instant replay clip. If you’ve made a play that’s difficult to put into words, just tap the hotkey afterward to immortalize your skills.
Step 4
You’re recording! The in-game overlay in the top right corner of your screen will indicate that the recording has started. You can always start or stop the recording using hotkeys.
Step 5
Once you close CS: GO, the Insights Capture dashboard will open automatically. You can turn this feature off in the App tab of the Settings menu. Upon your return, the latest video you’ve created will automatically start playing, and you can access the dashboard by simply pressing the default hotkey Alt+H. The kills, assists, and deaths will be marked on the video for your convenience so that you can edit your clips to create an awesome highlight videos!
